German GM30 Gas Mask

This mask was mainly utilized by the German Wehrmacht from 1934 - 1945.  These masks have cloth straps and a thick canvas face portion coated with rubber and metal fittings around the lenses and filter intake.  This mask represents an updated production where a special rubber protector was inserted into the mask to increase the effectiveness of the filter and prevent soldiers from hitting their teeth when falling.

A (2) stamped on the mask likely denoted a unit.

A cloth is in in the bottom of the canister for an unknown reason.

The 42 stamped on the canister is likely in reference to the manufacture year.

Insert the clear pane in such a way that the printout "inside" can be read from the inside of the mask. When used as a double clear disc in the Gm. 38 first a clear pane, then punch out a cardboard ring as a spacer and insert a second clear pane on top.
